I just read that May is "National Bike Month" here in the U.S. I don't know the details about who declares such things, but it sounds like a good idea to me. I have an old Raleigh 3-speed bike my son has been promising to restore for me, and I'll use this as a way to push him forward with the effort.
Throughout high school and much of my college career, I went almost everywhere on a bicycle. I still love to get on one when I can and get outside to enjoy a good bike ride. Even with urban traffic to contend with, bicycling -- done safely, of course -- offers a joy non-bike riders just can't appreciate.
So here are two bicycling sites with some good deals for you. The first site, an excellent outdoor gear and clothing company, is BackCountry.com. Backcountry.com is a leading online supplier of every type of outdoor gear, and they just recently added a great section on their website loaded with bike gear, bike parts, and bike accessories of all sorts.
The second site is Bikes and Biking, a site that uses sophisticated Internet search software to conveniently organize the latest and greatest real-time, "live" eBay auction listings on bicycles, bike frames, bike parts, bike clothing, and just about everything you would want related to bikes and bicycling. Take a good look around.
Enjoy National Bike Month!
